Think of it like getting a cold in the industry that affects your performance. It's inevitable, and what we do about it makes the biggest difference.
First, you'll notice an attitude shift. Something influences your attitude, making you less effective. Maybe you've been beaten up by a listing or a sale, and you're feeling down.
Next, your work habits shift. You might go home earlier, let priorities slide, and change your work habits. Then, your commitment wanes. You'll start putting things off without a sense of urgency.
As a result, your performance suffers, and your results decline. This can create a vicious cycle, leading agents to spiral out of the business.
I don't want that to happen to you. So, what can you do?
Recognize the downward spiral and take action. Just like taking medicine, taking action is essential for a quick recovery.
Now, let's talk about the actions to take to flip your downward spiral into an upward spiral:
First, have clarity. Confusion leads to inaction. When you're clear about your daily tasks and goals, you stay motivated. Most agents lack this clarity. I need you to have crystal clear clarity about what you want to achieve.
Next, focus on results. Stop doing things that don't produce results. Typically, 80% of your results come from 20% of your actions. Identify that 20% and focus on it. Use the genesis effect: print out your sales over the last 12 months, note the origin of those leads, and focus on what works.
Third, create a process. Every top agent has a process for lead generation, working with buyers, and working with sellers. Without a process, you can't systemize or scale. Look at your business like a loaf of bread, and slice it up. Start with lead generation, then move on to how you work with buyers, sellers, your follow-up plan, CRM plan, and social media plan.
Lastly, be consistent. Consistency is key to high performance. We often know what we need to do but struggle to do it consistently. Remove decision-making from your life by having non-negotiables. Know your daily tasks and stick to them without hesitation. Recognize when you're in a downward spiral and shift into the upward spiral to recover faster and excel in the market.
