When we enter this industry, we often have an ego, thinking we can coach and train people to be super successful. We have a passion for training and coaching, which leads us to believe we should direct that passion towards new agents.

But here's the problem:

There's an 87% attrition rate in our industry.

This means almost nine out of ten new agents you recruit will fail. You might think you can change that, but this number has been consistent over the last 30 years. It doesn't matter how good a coach or trainer you are, how good your brand, systems, CRM, website, or lead generation are. It's about what the new agents implement. No matter how good we are as mentors, some of them just won't take action.

All that being said, we were all new agents once. But those of us watching this today are part of a very small minority—the 10% who made it. And within that group, those who became successful enough to open a brokerage or be a team leader are even fewer.

So, what's the solution?

When you put all your energy into those eight or nine people who won't make it, it drains you.

Instead, you need to focus on recruiting experienced agents.

You don't have to start with agents doing $20-30 million. Begin with those doing a million dollars in business who have been in the industry for over two years. They've made it through the 87% attrition rate and vetted themselves. Start with million-dollar producers to $5 million or even $10 million producers. Once you recruit those who have been in the business longer than two years, your business will grow. You can then focus your energy on people who have already passed that two-year barrier.

This approach enabled me to go from one office to 17 offices, from 30 agents to 200 agents. It will help you grow, whatever your goals are, in the fastest possible way.
